London Filming

A week ago we went filming in london for the footage we need for the video. We managed to get around 8 minutes of footage to choose from to put in the video. Some of the locations in london included oxford circus, picadilly circus, embankment and St James' Park.

Next 'Stage' of Filming.

Today we have filmed the first part of useful footage, after the wasted session a couple of days ago we went away and planned everything to make sure this filming session would be a success. We had guitars and stage permission ready to use as soon as we arrived in school.
We had a couple of trial runs to get a performances right. Eventually we managed to get the verses and chorus done so when it comes to editing we have the whole song on the stage we can chose from.

First Filming Session

Today we went to film the stage scene of our music video. When we got down to it we realised how unprepared we were. We had not planned permission or the use of the stage and had to run around to the music department to ask to borrow some guitars. By the time we had everything we needed it was towards the end of the lesson and we had wasted a valuable filming session. We had to plan to film another day.

Possible Props

Drum Kit

Microphone
Scooters
Guitar

the reason we have chosen these props is because they are all appropriate to the theme and ides for a video which we found from our audience research and surveys.
we chose three props to do with the band scene. drums, microphone and guitars so we can recreate an authentic scene and then scooters which we can use to ride around london and give a feel of us recapturing our youth.

Possible locations

Harrods
Revolving doors
Stage
Central London

Bridge
From our audience feedback we discovered that people would like to see the majority of the video filmed outside. We decided that we will commence filming in central london as it is an outside location that will look good on camera and everybody will recognise. We have planned to visit key tourist attractions to film such as The London Eye and Harrodds.

The reason we chose revolving doors was becasuse we thought that it gives the video a fun feel seeing the band runnning round in a circle in the revolving doors.

Lyrics - Silent Film Project - Singer SongWriter

I'm offered forty six of the communicators gifts
I've wasted every drop of ink and every borrowed pencil lead
pretending i have seen something that's not been seen before
in the dusty carpet dirty cups and boot prints on my door
forgive me but i don't know what i'm for or against
I've not read what i'm sending to you all but it's yours

Name me after a Van Gogh spillage
I know where to go in the city
to the places that make heroes of the fools
singing stories of their wasted chances broken rules

I've settled every one of my re-occuring arguments
with a fiction that i lifted from the news and the news you brought
of the punches and the salmon that you caught
whilst living in the real world without me
forgive me but i don't know what i've brought to this party
and i'm drunk on things i wouldn't normally drink and broken hearted
I'm a lucky one it's how Willie Nelson started and perhaps
Paul Simon's gonna harmonise with me someday

Kiss digi-Pak analysis

Photoshop - Digi Pak

Today i started designing our group digi-pak and getting a feel for photoshop and some of the effects that i can incorporate to make the digi-pak look interesting and professional. The first thing i got done was the disc design, i decided to try and get the picture of us in front of the london eye so the wheel would go  around the disc and the axis was the centre point of the disk, above is the rough copy of what I accomplished.
After this i was playing around with colour controls and artistic effects to see what else we can incorporate into our digi-pak.

Chris Brown - Fame album artwork analysis

Back cover
Front Cover

Digi pak - analysis

Albert Hammond Jr - Yours to Keep
this digipak instantly catches the eye. it has bright colours and animated characters. the ideas that this puts into my head is a light hearted song maybe even a children's song or a nursery rhyme. after the listening to the track it can be said that the album cover relates in no way. The reason that this is a good is because it is attractive to the eye.
inside

The inside of the case is more relevant to the track has an image of the three band members with a background which matches the mood of the song.

the disk

on the disk it brings together the two images and links them. the three animated rabbits on the disk represent the bands member. this brings together the animation and light hearted imagery from the front and puts it together with the inside cover with the image of the band and the orange sky.

What to include in the Digi-Pak?

the digi-pak should incorporate a range of different factors. an ideal digi-pak will have attractive art or pictures and also images and text that is relevant to the artist and the song. A digi-pak has six panels which all need to be interesting below is an example of a good digi-pak.

This is an example of a good digi-pak because it incorporates lots of attracting colourful images but also pictures of the artist and title of the album .I think this is a really good blend of ideas and comes together really effectively.

Focus group - summary

In our focus group we discovered that our target audience watch lots of music videos and enjoy the fun bubbly music videos.
the responses we got about our song was that is it

  • chirpy
  • happy
  • fats moving
  • exciting
The ideas that people gave for our music videos :
  • skateboarding
  • running
  • laughing
  • cartwheels
  • sun
from the results that we have collected, we have decided that part of our video should be filmed outside and should have an upbeat feel. we are going to use the member of the band and show them having a good time and decided that central london would be a good location to be on camera.

one thing that the audience wanted too see was skateboarding however we are not gonna do this becuase none of our band members can skateboard.

Focus Group

Yesterday we held a focus group where we asked 3 people to listen to the song and tell us there views. this is part of identifying our target audience and market research.

Our song- SingerSongwriter - Silent Film Project

Below is a live version of the band singing the song we have chosen. :

Changing of Song

Today we sat down as a group and discussed what ideas we had for the music video and what our thoughts were on the song choice. As we got down to it we realised that we had a little amount of idea about how the video would end up and felt that maybe it wasn't a good choice to continue using this song.
We all agreed that we should choose  new song so we went on to unsigned.com. after a while of looking we all found a song which we liked this is called Singer/songwriter by Silent Film Project.  We instantly felt this was the right song and had a brainstorming session to picture the video.
Silent Film Project

Cinere - Photoshoot

Before we could use this song we had to end an email to the artist to ask for permission. Above is the email that we sent. within the email we had to ask for a copy of the lyrics and an MP3 copy of the song itself.
After this i did somemore research in the artist:

Cincere is more than a gifted artist, he is a humble soft spoken young man on a musical mission and the formula is magic wherever he goes. The fan base is solid, adoring, and uniquely diverse.  Cutting edge, yet soulfully true to the core of his R & B roots, Cincere has fans riveted to the music and the lyrics…. messages of love, hope, and promise intricately woven in brilliantly crafted beats and orchestration.
Cincere was born and raised in Milwaukee WI United States and has opened shows for artsists such as Chris Brown,Bobby valentino and the black eyed peas.

What we did in the preliminary exercise.

The first step we has to take when making this preliminary exercise was get the track on to one member of our groups phones. To do this we took Rilwan's phone and blue toothed the track from the imac to his phone, once the track was on we were ready to start filming.

The filming process consisted of 3 takes, one of me on my own,one of billy on his own and then one together. We found it easier to film it in complete takes rather then a lot of different takes for different parts of the song. Because we filmed in complete takes it took around ten house to get all of our footage.

The next step was to start editing we took lots of layers to see what we liked and when we were happy with it we locked the layers down and worked around that. After this we set about getting the perfect lip synching and i think we achieved this.

Chris Brown & Benny Benassi - Beautiful People

This is my favourite music video at the current time. i like it as it has many bright lights and high energy dancing. This is a strong example of a music video that would attract everyone even if they d not particularly like the song o the artists. Later on in the music video chris brown and a big group of people ride through america on scooters in a way this is recapturing their youth and makes me want to get my scooter out.

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing compares 2U

In this video it is almost just a whole video of a close up on   Sinead O'Connor. Her facial expressions really portray the emotions of the song and this is a really effective video. Towards the end of the music video a tear rolls down her cheek and this is one of the most effective moments in music video history. This shows genuine emotion as the tears she dropped were for her mother.

Copyright law.

Copy right law is an important factor to consider when we're making our music video. On wikipeadia Copyright is defined as :

"Copyright is a legal concept, enacted by most governments, giving the creator of an original work exclusive rights to it, usually for a limited time. Generally, it is "the right to copy", but also gives the copyright holder the right to be credited for the work, to determine who may adapt the work to other forms, who may perform the work, who may financially benefit from it, and other, related rights."

File-Copyright.svg.png

How does Copyright effect me

copy right effects my video in several ways firstly i must make sure that any music that i choose to use in the video i have permission for. it is important that i contact the artist to ask if it is okay to use the track. otherwise i might find when i work on my blog or post my video to youtube that posts or videos may be removed for copyright
